The Royal College of Art graduate exhibition: a ‘must-see’ event for anyone interested in twenty-first century art and design
A warm welcome to Show RCA 2011 – the culmination of Royal College of Art postgraduate students’ studio work and research in Applied Art, Architecture, Communications, Design, Fashion & Textiles, Fine Art and Humanities, and a showcase for this next generation of artists, designers, writers and thinkers.
Shows and Dates
For the first time since the 2007 Great Exhibition, Show RCA presents the work of 431 graduating art and design students simultaneously, from 24 June to 3 July 2011.
At Show Battersea, Fine Art students exhibit in the Painting and Sculpture buildings at the RCA’s SW11 campus and in the Testbed 1 Gallery nearby.
Applied Art, Architecture, Communications, Design, Fashion & Textiles and Humanities come together at Show Kensington in a remarkable gathering of design talent.
Show Fashion – when graduates present their final collections in two catwalks shows – took place on 1 June, to great acclaim.

The Design Interactions — Work in Progress show opens tonight at 6pm. I’ll be showing some artifacts from my ‘Designing Robot Shoes’ workshops that have been taking place over the last few months and some experimental models of robot armpits.

I recently hosted a Designing Robot Shoes workshop at London College of Communications. Thank you to Paul Bailey, Tutor on the FdA Design for Graphic Communication for organising everything. About 15 students turned out, making it the largest workshop to date and there were loads of weird and exciting ideas for putting ourselves in robot shoes. Just one of the great ideas is shown above.
